ADDITIONAL AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS OR ACTIVITIES:
(NOT SPONSORED OR ORGANIZED BY THE PTSA)
Outside organizations in the Puget Sounds community offer Woodridge Elementary many stimulating, enriching, and character-building programs for our kids. The following are just a few activities in which your kids can get involved to grow…socially, intellectually, and/or emotionally.
Those who have language in elementary school are 70% more likely to reach proficiency than those who don’t start until high school. Tremendous benefits also include higher standardized test scores, more creative thinking, and native-sounding pronunciation. Children who learn a second language young are prepared for their third and fourth languages, too. For elementary-school children, the focus is on practical, everyday communication. Sponge's first emphasis is on building aural skills. As the students get older, they add reading and writing, too. Even big kids learn best, and stay motivated, when they’re having fun. Sponge teaches the national language learning standards through games, drama, art and music.

Small Hands On ArtSmall Hands on Art is a not-for-profit organization that instructs students in the performing arts. Everyone who enrolls gets a part of the production. They will go through the whole process from a simple audition to learning characterization, singing ability, and simple dance. It is a very fun learning environment. Most students feel like they are going to have a great time with friends or make new ones, little do they know they are coming away with some amazing instruction and stage presence. Watch for the flyers that come home to sign up.
