Why Be Involved with Your PTSA?
Research has shown that parental involvement is a leading predictor of student success. It results in better grades, better social skills, and a positive attitude towards school.
The Woodridge Elementary PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association) is a membership based, all-volunteer, nonprofit 501(c)-3 organization. To reach of goals of community, fundraising, and volunteerism, we need parents to be involved. Together, we bring to the school community specials events such as game night, movie nights, the variety show, the science fair, the carnival -- and of prime importance, financial resources to bridge funding gaps.
The PTSA can help you get involved at Woodridge. By volunteering with us, you will get to know teachers, staff members, other families better, and understand more about what is happening at the school. When you are involved at school you show your child that education is important to you.
Ways to get involved:
Join the PTSA and volunteer - All PTSA events are run by volunteers. All help is appreciated. Perfect English is not required. Our group of volunteers should be as diverse as our school is. To find out about upcoming volunteer opportunities click here.
Help your child's teacher - Teachers often appreciate help in and outside of the classroom. For example, you might be asked to prepare handouts, make copies, or set up activities. Contact your student’s teacher to find out how you can help.
Help school staff - School staff need help serving food in the lunch room, keeping students safe at recess, and doing office work. Contact Laurie Englund in the Main Office: englundl@bsd405.org
Be informed - To stay informed about what is going on at Woodridge, sign up to receive the weekly PTSA email, the “Eagle E-Blast.” You can sign up for this PTSA newsletter by:
